UAE Golden Visa 2025: No Eligibility for Crypto Investors

In a recent announcement, UAE authorities have addressed and denied circulating claims that cryptocurrency investors, specifically those investing in Toncoin are eligible for the country’s prestigious Golden Visa program.
This clarification reinforces the UAE’s commitment to maintaining transparency in its immigration and residency frameworks, particularly as digital investment trends continue to rise.

UAE Golden Visa Criteria Remain Strictly Defined
According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), the Golden Visa is granted under specific, officially approved categories. These include:
Real estate investors
Entrepreneurs
Scientists and specialists
Exceptional talents
Top-performing students and graduates
Humanitarian pioneers
Frontline workers
Investing in digital currencies or virtual assets is not among the qualifying criteria.
This statement was jointly issued by the ICP, the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), and the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) the three key regulatory bodies overseeing identity, capital markets, and virtual assets in the UAE.
Clarifying the Toncoin Misconception
The announcement was prompted by a claim from Max Crown, CEO of the Ton Foundation, who stated on social media that holders of Toncoin could obtain a 10-year UAE Golden Visa by staking $35,000 worth of the digital asset, subject to certain conditions.
Authorities swiftly addressed this misinformation:
VARA confirmed that Toncoin is neither licensed nor regulated under its jurisdiction.
It reiterated that only companies with proper licenses must follow the visa procedures set by the Dubai government.
SCA emphasized that while virtual asset investments are regulated, they do not entitle investors to long-term residency through the Golden Visa.
Avoiding Misinformation in the Digital Era
The UAE’s regulatory bodies strongly urged the public, especially investors, to rely solely on official government platforms and licensed entities for any information related to visas, investments, or licensing.
Misleading promotions, unofficial offers, or viral social media posts should not be considered reliable sources. Instead, those interested in the Golden Visa program are advised to consult the ICP’s official website for accurate information and up-to-date eligibility requirements.
